Magazine Covers (The Dog)

These illustrations were created for musical equipment retailer Red Dog Music’s quarterly A5 magazine ‘The Dog’. Each issue’s cover consisted of an illustration based around some sort of musical equipment crossed with a cute canine friend.

Some were hand-drawn in illustrator, whereas others were designed from cut up photo’s using our dot screen effect to pull the various elements together as one complete whole. We cycled the background colors between issues to keep them varied, using the in-house palette of red, black and beige.

We tried to use fresh exciting typography on the covers, using a huge mix of fonts, retaining the friendly welcoming feel of the magazine together with sharp professional type styles.
