Out Of The Blue is one of Scotland’s leading community, cultural and arts development organisations, and are The Bongo Clubs sister organisation. In 2014 they reached their twentieth anniversary and to celebrate we were asked to create this illustration to visually represent their history and the long journey they’d travelled to get to where they are today.
Between themselves and The Bongo Club, they’d moved premises multiple times and called six buildings home. We illustrated each of these in a tight iconised style from original photographs of the buildings, then using them to create this annotated timeline image. We added additional design elements that fitted their journey and finally used this unique color scheme to pull the whole thing together.
The illustration was used online, as a full page in The Bongo Clubs ‘Bongo Lives!’ programme and as a huge poster within the venue.
We wish them a prosperous next 20 years!
