English Folk Expo

English Folk Expo, is an industry showcase presenting the finest English folk, roots and acoustic music. The annual showcase is held in Bury, Lancashire, in the heart of England and a short drive from Manchester Airport, the weekend before Womex.
After previously designing the logo branding and programme for the English Folk Expo’s first year in 2013, we were invited to create a new design for their sophmore showcase in 2014.
Using photographs of the most common instruments played over the weekend, we made each monochrome and compiled this abstract illustration to represent the showcase. They were then colored in bright colors to give a fresh modern feel to the cover artwork. This image was used throughout the publicity and translated to their website, promotional leaflet and pop-up banner.
The inside pages contained a lot of content so were designed to be easily read and easily understandable, with a photo of each artist used to illustrate each entry.
The back cover contained an advert for Showcase Scotland, a similar expo based on our side of the border, that we also do the design for.
