We were invited to design the CD sleeve for young folk singer Jackie Oates’ album ‘The Spyglass & The Herringbone’. Keen to keep away from any old fashioned representation of folk music for this exciting artist, we designed this sleeve to retain a fresh modern look more fitting to the music.
The initial photographs didn’t capture the mood we were looking for, so we knew we had to do something quite drastic with the imagery to capture the right feel. We heavily manipulated the images adding additional design elements, and colored it in this cross between old fashioned sepia tones and modern vivid greens. We were really happy with the end product, capturing a beautiful natural style, obviously folk but fresh and current.
