Education Catalogue
We’ve worked with Edinburgh music store Red Dog Music for many years, who have since expanded throughout the UK with new stores in London and Leeds. We were overjoyed to design their first Education Catalogue, the ‘Big Red Book’, a huge publication coming in at 196 pages and listing over 4500 instruments.
We needed to produce a fresh looking, more modern and youthful catalogue to stand out against the more ‘prog’ styled competition. Whilst utilising the corporate branding style and unique fonts we’d previously created for the company’s in-house style.
The cover used disparate photo’s of their stock pulled together by bitmapping effects and the color scheme to give a striking and relevant vibrant design. The cover was then branded with clean typography alongside a large bold title and fresh highlight colouring. The back cover contains the Red Dog Music manifesto, they’re country’s friendliest music store and that’s the feel we looked to capture with this warm, welcoming piece.
Inside we needed a clean, flexible and easily understandable layout to present the huge amount of content and products. This was interspersed with bright pull-out fact boxes and strong section introduction pages containing readable articles and advertising pages.
Co-ordinating such a large project and organising so much content required meticulously planned project and file management, and set us up well for future projects of similar complexity. And it was great to finally receive the final publication, which has been going down a storm!
