ABOUT THE PROJECT
Past Lives of Leith

Exhibition signage
In 2009 while digging up Constitution Street in Leith, in advance of the new Edinburgh Tram lines. An ancient graveyard was unearthed consisting of nearly 400 burials, ageing between the 14th – 17th centuries. The finds have shed new details on the life and death of the ordinary inhabitants of Leith.
The Exhibition contained forensic art reconstructions of the past inhabitants, leading us to present the artwork in the style of a noticeboard in a police criminal investigation. Hopefully helping to pull the relevance of the exhibition into the today, as did the spookily contemporary reconstructions featured.
Only wish I could have actually printed everything seperately and pinned it to the board (health and safety on the drawing pins…!).
