ABOUT THE PROJECT
Past Meets Present – New Acquisitions Revealed!
Museum of Edinburgh
Exhibition signage
We were invited by the Museum Of Edinburgh to create signage for their exhibition of new acquisitions ‘Past Meets Present’.
The varied items displayed in the exhibition didn’t have an underlying theme. So we needed the imagery to be able to represent all the new acquisitions old and new.
We lead with the open packing crate, filled with straw and yet to reveal the mysteries within! These crates come from the Edinburgh Museums & Galleries warehouse where exhibits are stored when not displayed to the public. I’ve been reliably informed that it’s remarkably similar to the warehouse at the end of Raiders Of The Lost Ark where the Ark of the Covenant was stored! Who know’s what arcane objects could be stored in an unlabelled crate hidden at the back?
Adding to the mysterious crate we used a fresh color scheme backed by a hand drawn illustration of the city. Then topped it all off with a strong clean title with a little extra detail to up the ante!
Exterior signage, pop-up banners, exhibition panels of various sizes were created for the project.
