ABOUT THE PROJECT

Kick Ass Hostels
Website

After previously working on the artwork for their new Edinburgh hostel the Kick Ass Hostel, we were invited to design their new website too. A large percentage of their bookings come from their site and it plays a hugely important part in their business.

This responsive website is used as a first point of reference for guests, containing all the important information about the hostel, including their facilities, location, photo’s, customer comments and up to date room prices. It also crucially contains an easy to use booking system that actively works with their in-house system and takes a high percentage of the hostels room bookings. Additional pages help the day to day visitors with details of their daily events and tours, together with places to visit and things to do.

The design was created to complement the previous work we’d done for the company, both in print and for signage throughout the building. We used their branding color scheme for the base content and added additional bright coloring to highlight important sections. The idea was to create a fresh, bright, youthful and friendly feel to suit the younger clientele and mood of the company. Multiple internal adverts were made for the rightmost column of the site to promote features of the business and encourage click-throughs. Versions of these were later used for a facebook campaign to embellish their event posts.

The site has also been used for their second Edinburgh hostel the Budget Backpackers Hostel and was rebranded and recolored to fit their identity whilst using the same structure and layout.

The build was undertaken by the brilliant Jez Curnow at Web Active Media (www.webbactivemedia.net) who did a great job with the complex project and we continue to work together on the site.

We did a lot more design work throughout the venue and other elements can be found elsewere on this site (or via the links below).
