ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Venue (Dumfries)
Website

It was a great honour to be invited to create a new website for the legendary godfather of English folk music, Ewan MacColl.

Writer of the classic ‘Dirty Old Town and ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’, together with thousands of other tracks. And as we learnt during the project an inspirational fighter for workers rights and the underprivileged.

We wanted to capture a classic look and feel with the site, respecting the Ewan’s vast legacy. But we were also looking for a major update to present the works in a fresh, forward thinking way.

Twisting the classic green folk color scheme, we used a bright digital green to highlight the pages. Balanced with adding vintage halftone newspaper effects to the images to keep it grounded.

The fully responsive site works as a hub for Ewan’s online presence. Housing his detailed biography, discography, video’s, photo’s, an extensive resource archive, store links, subscription and contact forms.
